A new report anticipates that access to online retail markets in the Asia Pacific will register annual growth of 25.5 per cent between 2012 and 2017.

This prediction would see it hit a total worth of US$278bn.

In 2012, combined sales from Japan and China comprised over three quarters of total online retail sales for the Asia Pacific region.

While Latin America’s online retail market growth is expected to grow marginally, the Middle East and Africa have been predicted to slow.

Despite being hit hard in the global financial crisis, Europe’s recovery is expected to continue to see its growth supersede that of the US market.

While the UK, France, Germany, Russia and Italy comprised more than 50 per cent of Europe’s retail sales in 2012, their combined share is expected to decrease by 2017.
