The Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters, Importers and Merchant Association (PFVA) has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with the International Association of Silk Route Trade (IASRT) Kyrgyzstan to strengthen fresh produce exports to Central Asia, reports the Express Tribune.
The MoC was signed after a three-day international conference held in Islamabad, attended by dignitaries, businessmen and exporters from seven countries of South and Central Asia, with a view to finding new markets for horticultural products.
PFVA spokesperson Waheed Ahmed told the Express Tribune that Pakistan could earn over US$400m through fruit, vegetable and value-added fruit pulp exports to Central Asian markets.
He said Central Asia was not only a lucrative and geographically-accessible market for mango, kinnow, potato, onion and value-added fruit bi-products, but was also a route to Russian and European markets.
