Compac

Global produce sorting specialist Compac Sorting Equipment has opened the doors to its first assembly and supply facility in China, based in Kunshan.

The facility will act as a sub-assembly point, ensuring that parts sourced from China are ready to be fitted once the arrive at the company’s Auckland headquarters, where the majority of Compac machines continue to be manufactured. This is aimed at reducing overall lead times and supporting the company’s increasing production throughput.

The facility will also act as a supply hub for other manufacturing plants and branches of Compac's global network, allowing key parts of machinery to be more efficiently accessed by the company’s global service and installation teams.

“The facility has the potential to become a significant manufacturing hub for the local China and greater Asia markets,” Compac said in a company statement. “By increasing Compac’s local presence, the company will be in a position to better supply and service these markets in future.”

Currently in the first stage of recruitment, the factory will employ up to 50 people, helping to support growing international demand for Compac products.
