A new shipping service linking China and New Zealand will set sail in just over a month. As revealed by Asiafruit in August, the new service will be operated as a joint initiative between Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), CMA CGM, China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) and Pacific International Lines (PIL).

OOCL announced today (29 September) that the China New Zealand service (CNS) will commence on 6 November. The shipping firm also released the finalised route for the service.

Covering major markets in both countries, the CNS offers weekly sailings and a turn-around time of 49 days, which includes a competitive transit time of 22 days from Shanghai to Auckland. The journey from New Zealand’s major kiwifruit and avocado production hub in Tauranga to Hong Kong will take just 13 days.

The Australian market will also be serviced, with sailings between Shanghai and Brisbane taking 17 days. The first northbound sailing will begin from Port Chalmers on 2 December.
