Naturipe Farms’ recently launched organic blueberry compostable packaging has been named as a finalist for the Produce Marketing Association’s 2014 Impact Awards. Introduced this summer, the 6oz, natural fibre tray is home compostable, recyclable and sealed in a breathable flow-wrap film.

The company said the packs differentiate the product at retail, while deeply aligning with the values of the organic consumer.

“The 100 per cent compostable material used as the package base creates an emotional connection for the organic consumer as it speaks to their desire for authenticity and ‘good feeling’ about their purchases,” said marketing manager Janis McIntosh.

Naturipe claims the packs align with its “Cultivate with Care” programme and overall mission to reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink.

Winners of the Impact Awards will be announced at the PMA’s annual Fresh Summit convention in October.
