NZ Gold Kiwifruit

Kiwifruit producers in New Zealand and China are set to benefit from a new virtual laboratory being launched by the two nations.

The project is the result of collaboration between New Zealand’s Plant & Food Research and the Sichuan Provincial Academy of Natural Resource Sciences (SPANRS). The partnership was announced during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Auckland last week.

The virtual laboratory will allow scientists from both organisations to collaborate on research into kiwifruit diseases and physiology. Researchers will also be able to discuss the native kiwifruit germplasm found in China.

Plant & Food Research was one of four companies to formally announce major developments in their relationship with China during the President’s visit.
