Walmart India has announced plans to open 15 new cash and carry stores in Andhra Pradesh over five years, according to Business Insider.
The US-headquartered global retailer operates three wholesale stores in the state under its Best Price brand, and said its goal was to operate stores in each district of the state.
Walmart India president and CEO Krishna Iyer met with Andhra Predesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday to discuss Walmart’s expansion plans. According to the Business Insider, Iyer said Walmart India was keen to invest in corporate social responsibility, with Naidu stating that the regional Walmart stores could market local agricultural goods.
Walmart India operates 20 Best Price wholesale stores across eight of India’s states.
