UK-based berry and asparagus specialist S&A Produce has begun exporting Mexican avocados into China through links with its existing grower base in the Latin American country.

The consignment, which left Mexico last week, is the first time the company has diversified into the avocado business. It is currently one of the few companies supplying raspberries, blackberries and blueberries into China.

Hereford-headquartered S&A Produce has been developing relationships in Asia since opening its office in Shanghai in 2014, and was exhibiting at Asia Fruit Logistica to further strengthen this position and boost brand awareness. It is particularly targeting Indonesia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

The company has staff members based in Shanghai and Guangzhou.
