Food exporters trading to China and domestic importers will have to register on a new online system from 1 October, according to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (Aqsiq).
The system has been designed to keep more stringent records and better traceability of food products, and act as a safeguard to ensure companies meet the new food regulation requirements, with food businesses also able to keep import and sales records on the system.
China released its updated Food Safety Law earlier this year as part of a crackdown that has seen harsher penalties and stricter regulations be introduced for food businesses in China.
