The Indian market presents an outstanding opportunity for Vietnamese agricultural exporters, according to Vietnamese deputy minister of agriculture and rural development Vu Van Tam.

Speaking at the Vietnam-India business meeting in New Delhi this week, Tam highlighted the work both countries were doing to strengthen ties within the agricultural sector.

India has been working to provide Vietnamese producers with training in human resources and technology transfers over recent seasons.

Meanwhile, Tam told Vietnam News that Vietnam had actively promoted the pair’s relationship in a number of forums, such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the East Asian Summit (EAS) and the Asian European Meeting (ASEM).

Tam added that the Vietnamese government continues to offer incentives for trade promotional activities that boost cooperation with international partners, including India companies. He identified particular potential for Vietnamese-grown dragon fruit in the South Asian nation.
