Leading Indian importer-exporter IG International has teamed-up with New Zealand’s largest avocado exporter, Avanza, to supply and grow the category in the South Asian nation.
The partnership is aiming to increase awareness of avocados amongst Indian consumers, with a specific focus on highlighting the nutritional benefits of the fruit.
“Avocados are incredible nutritious and nourishing for the body and soul,” said Tarun Arora, director of IG International. “If you like to get the most out of life then you should definitely include an avocado in your diet. Your body will love you for it.”
As part of the push, IG International is highlighting the “clean and green” environment Avanza’s avocados are grown in, along with New Zealand’s world-class orchard management and quality control systems. The company has also engaged high profile chefs to help emphasize the versatility of the fruit.
“Avocados interestingly blends with everyday Indian meals, the soft buttery texture and nutty flavour goes really well with many traditional dishes such as Bhel Puri and Tawa Pulao, they also blend seamlessly with curries,” explained Kunal Kapur, an Indian celebrity masterchef.
