Strawberries

Shipments of fresh strawberries from South Korea to Vietnam are expected to begin from February 2016..

The Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food & Rural Affairs said quarantine agencies from both countries had been working closely to agree of hygiene and safety standards to allow the shipments to go ahead since 2008.

Korea exports fresh strawberries to more than 20 countries including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, with exporters increasing each year. Volumes reached 3,313 tonnes of exported fresh strawberries in 2015, up from 2,215 tonnes in 2012, according to the Ministry.

The Korean government sees gaining access for fresh strawberry exports into Vietnam as a step closer to expanding exporters across South East Asia, a market dominated by strawberries from the US and Egypt.
