kiwiberry

China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) has moved to suspend kiwiberry imports after reclassifying the fruit, according to guojiguoshu.com.

Scientifically known as Actinidia arguta, kiwiberries were originally classed under the kiwifruit category and hence allowed to enter the People’s Republic under the same import conditions.

AQSIQ has now classified the fruit as its own species, meaning it is absent from its approved list of imports. Kiwiberry producing nations now face the prospect of negotiating their own import protocols from scratch.
