Isabella Hu, head of shipping firm Cosco’s global sales division, has joined the line-up of speakers confirmed for the second Cool Logistics Asia conference in Hong Kong on 7 September.

Hu will discuss her company’s ambitions for growth in the reefer market, including investment in temperature monitoring, larger alliances, reefer plugs and schedule reliability. She will also touch on the role of the the creation of a ‘comprehensive cool logistics centre in China’.

Joining Hu on the programme will be Ronald Veldman, reefer cargo specialist at Netherlands-based consultancy firm Seabury. During one of the key sessions at the conference, Veldman will evaluate the prospects for intra-Asia trade as well as India/Middle East reefer shipping. He will also provide a detailed correlation between reefer box volumes and cargo value in all of the above trade routes.

In other sessions, Raul Saca from Maersk USA will address the spot market for bananas and its implications for reefer container shipping, while Paul Gallie, director of Asian port investments for APM Terminals, will focus on the role ports in South East Asia can have on developing viable regional perishable supply chains.

“Our goal at Cool Logistics Asia this year is to help perishable shippers understand the new situation and inform their planning process to safeguard supply chain operations,” said Alex von Stempel, managing director of the conference’s organiser Cool Logistics Resources.

The conference’s opening session will once again be chaired by Thomas Eskesen, head of the Eskesen Advisory. Cool Logistics Asia will again be held at the AsiaWorld-Expo Centre in Hong Kong, alongside Asia Fruit Logistica.
