Speakers from five different continents will headline the inaugural Smart Horticulture Asia conference, taking place alongside Asia Fruit Logistica on 8 September.

Professor SalahSukkarieh of the Australian Centre for Field Robotics (University of Sydney) – an international expert in the research, development and commercialisation of field robotic systems – will provide an insight into the horticulture farm of the future during the opening session of the conference.

After lunch, four breakout sessions will be held with a focus on crucial aspects of information management in the value chain of fresh produce, including cultivation,supply,customers andinformation exchange.

The afternoon plenaries will focus on how new disruptive technology and the use of it is changing business models in horticulture. Loren Zhao, founder of Chinese e-tailer Fruitday, will show how their company is developing “new” added value in China’s online retail markets with fresh fruit.

Smart Horticulture Asia forms part of the Asia Fruit Logistica business week, which gets under way with Asiafruit Congress, on 6 September, the day before the Asia Fruit Logistica trade show opens its doors. On the first day of Asia Fruit Logistica (7 September), Cool Logistics Asia, the conference dedicated to perishable logistics, returns for its second edition.
