A number of new Indonesian government import regulations have hit citrus imports, with some commodities seeing volumes halve in 2015 compared to 2012.

In 2015, orange volumes fell to 14,036 tonnes, down from 32,491 tonnes in 2012.Mandarin volumes, meanwhile, plummeted to 82,313 tonnes, down from 179,374 tonnes in 2012.

Orange imports were valued at US$16.8m in 2015, with the main volume suppliers being Egypt (4,249 tonnes), Australia (2,776 tonnes), US (2,576 tonnes), China (2,413 tonnes) and South Africa (1,998 tonnes).

Mandarin imports were valued at US$104m, with the main volume coming from China (56,475 tonnes) and Pakistan (20,271 tonnes).

Pakistan is the only country that has increased mandarin exports to Indonesia over the last three years - up by 64 per cent from 7,000 tonnes in 2012.
