Future Group has secured its position as the leading retailer in India after purchasing Sangam Direct retail store chain from Wadhawan Retail.
The acquisition will see Future Group add an additional 30 stores across Delhi and Bengaluru to its retail network, according to IGD Retail Analysis.
The is the third acquisition for Future Group is recent years in the north of India after purchasing the Big Apple convenience store chain and retail business Easyday from Bharti Retail. In India’s south, Future Group acquired the Nilgiris in 2015, with local media reporting Future Group is also in talks to acquire Hyderabad-based Heritage Foods, which would add a future 114 stores to its retail business.
Future Group operates 800 stores in various formats across India, including larger format Big Bazaar and FBB hypermarkets.
