Apple & Pear Australia’s (APAL) has made another appointment to its executive team, with Chris Fairlessjoining the peak industry body’s board this month.

Fairless will serve as APAL’s new director for pears. The announcement comes after Philip Turnbul was appointed CEO late last month, following the departure of John Dollisson.

Fairless is well known in industry circles, having held roles with Geoffrey Thompson Fruit Packaging Co andNational Fresh, a division of the Costa Group. He has also previously served as the president of the Shepparton Fruit Growers Association and the Apple & Pear Growers Association of Australia.

Fairless started his career with the Fairless Group of Companies, where he was managing director and oversaw operations of five orchard properties, six cold storage and logistics facilities.

“He has worked closely with the supermarkets and has good knowledge about the whole supply chain,” said APAL chair Michele Allan. “I look forward to welcoming Chris to the board and working with him.”

Turnbul commenced as CEO on 4 October, after Dollisson completed his role in late September to pursue “otheropportunities.”
