Tmall Fresh has entered a partnership with global certification programme GlobalGAP.

The deal will see the Chinese e-commerce platform make a conscious effort to source fresh produce from GlobalGAP certified producers, enabling these products to reach China’s vast and growing consumer market.

Launched in April 2008, Tmall – which is operated by Alibaba Group – has more than 400m buyers, 50,000 merchants and over 70,000 brands. It is China's largest third-party platform for brands and retailers.

GlobalGAP says its mission is to bring farmers and retailers together to “produce and market safe food to protect scarce resources and build a sustainable future.”
