A solid season for India’s primary apple-producing state of Himachal Pradesh has seen a harvest of around 20m 25kg cartons, reports Sindh Today.
About 2.5m more cartons would come out of the season, according to horticulture department director Gurdev Singh.
“Almost two crore (20m) cartons have been sent to various markets across the country,” he said.
The price of Himachal apples has been driven down in Indian markets by the arrival of fruit from neighbouring Kashmir and Jammu.
Apples account for 40 per cent of fruit production in Himachal Pradesh.
