French kiwifruit grower-shipper Primland marked the 20th anniversary of its Chilean subsidiary, Primland Chile, with a celebration in Curicó, Chile, earlier this month.

The event on 1 March brought together 140 guests, including Chilean and French kiwifruit producers, exporters and grower association representatives, in “grand Franco-Chilean style”, Primland said yesterday (19 March) in a press release.

Primland launched Primland Chile in 1998 to secure year-round production of its Oscar kiwifruit, the group said.

To date, Primland Chile supplies an average 4,000 tonnes of Oscar kiwifruit each year from growing regions in central Chile.

“The company regularly invests to improve the facility’s production capacity (eg installation of new cold rooms in 2015) and the performance of the sales team,” Primland said in a statement.

“The company now has 11 permanent members of staff and recruits more than 85 seasonal employees.”

Preparation for the next Chilean kiwifruit season is underway with confidence, the statement added
