Fresh produce technology and machinery specialist Unitec has announced it will open a new branch in Australia.
Unitec Asia Pacific will be based in Melbourne, with the objective of supporting the Italian-headquartered company’s customers in Australia and New Zealand. This includes “excellent service: fast spare parts as well as professional and specialized assistance,” according to a release from Unitec.
The branch will be manned by a team of technicians – skilled in the fields of electronics, mechanics and software – along with a sales team, which will be tasked with helping packhosues improve their business.
Unitec Asia Pacific adds to the company’s 10 existing operating branches around the world, all located in countries where Unitec has identified high potential for fruit and vegetable production.
Unitec has ramped up its business in the Australasian region over recent times, with a number of fit-outs made in the past 24 months.
Leading Australian cherry grower-packer-marketer CherryHill Orchards invested in a Unitec electronic grading line for its new packhouse in Coldstream, which opened late last year. The 20 lane instillation was equipped with Cherry Vision 3.0, a completely automated piece of technology that identifies internal and external defects, while also grading for softness, size and color.
“I think that Cherry Vision 3.0 is the best technology in classifying defects in the world,” said Stephen Riseborough of CherryHill Orchards.
“Our customers know that the fruit they receive will be without defects, therefore they trust our brand and on this basis we can help our activity grow.”
Unitec Asia Pacific will offer Unitec’s full suite of technological solutions for a range of fresh produce, including cherries, blueberries, apples, pears, kiwifruit and stonefruit.
