Underlying sales at the group's South Korean business fell 2 per cent for the 10 weeks up to 1 November, compared with a flat performance in the first half of its financial year, Reuters reported.

However, like-for-like sales increased by 8 per cent at Tesco's Chinese operation, following on from a successful first half when sales jumped 14 per cent.

Meanwhile, sales at the retailer's Malaysian business rose 2 per cent during the 10-week period, after a first-half increase of 1 per cent.
