Shipping venture the Grand Alliance (GA) has announce plans to alter its Asia-US East Coast service in a bid to incorporate part of the New World Alliance's (NWA) operations.

The seasonal arrangement, which will operate for 18 weeks, sees the South China Express Service (SCE) of the GA adjusted to cover additional ports from the NWA's New York Express Service.

The SCE will move from an eight to a nine ship loop to cover the additional port calls, with a revised rotation of Shanghai, Shekou, Yantian, Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Panama Canal, Manzanillo, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Miami, Manzanillo, Balboa, San Pedro, Busan, Shaghai.

'The service changes have been made to ensure continuation of the service network by adjusting capacity to the seasonal demand of our customers,' said Grand Alliance member Nippon Yusan Kaisha (NYK) in a statement.

The Grand Alliance consists of NYK, Hapag-Lloyd and Orient Overseas Container Line. The NWA is made up of APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine and Mitsui OSK Lines.
