Tesco Express China

Retailer Tesco has revealed that it has signed a contract with Nanjing Wanda Plaza to open a new supermarket in December, China Retail News has reported.

The UK-based group will launch the store on 18 December in Hexi New city, Nanjing, adding to its existing portfolio of 58 hypermarkets in China and five pilot convenience stores.

Tesco's prospects in the area are good, a group spokesman said, with 350,000 people currently residing in the Hexi area, a number that is expected to increase to 450,000 by the end of 2010.
