Leading Indian fruit exporter Freshtrop has opened a new juice processing plant in Nashik, at an estimated of Rs250m (US$5.05m).

The integrated fruit juice plant is located 15km from Nashik, according to a Business Standard report, and has just commenced commercial operations.

Spread across 4.6ha, the plant will produce 200 tonnes of pomegranate juice concentrate a day, along with 100 tonnes each of mango and guava juice.

“The company will not sell juice directly in domestic market, but will cater to juice manufacturers,” a senior company official told the Business Standard.

“At this plant, we will extract pulp of mangoes and guavas and produce pomegranate juice concentrate, and will cater to the juice manufacturers. With the opening of this plant, Freshtrop’s turnover is expected to increase by Rs500m.”

The new plant is the company’s fourth facility, following three post-harvest handling plants in Nashik, Sangli and Satara in Maharashtra.
