Asian Citrus holdings

Asian Citrus Holdings, the largest orange plantation owner and operator in China, has reported on a 20 per cent increase in full year pre-tax profits this week.

The group said that the improved result for the period ended June 2009 was a result of higher orange sales, with sales to supermarkets directly up 22 per cent on last year, Reuters reported.

Meanwhile, finance director Eric Sung told Reuters that the group had no plans to enter the export market in the near future.

'We are only accounting for about 2.5 per cent of the overall market share,' he explained. 'We think that there is still a long way for us to go in the Chinese domestic market... so it is too early for us to be thinking about exports.'
