Fruit Logistica flags

The conference programme for Fruit Logistica 2010 has been revealed this week, with a range of sessions designed to offer comprehensive background information and ideas for international fresh produce trade professionals.

The event, which takes place on 3-5 February 2010 at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds in Berlin, Germany, will provide in-depth information in a series of seminars and panel discussions focusing on current market issues, challenges and trends.

Kicking off Fruit Logistica on 2 February is the 29th Fresh Produce Forum, which will focus on the question 'Top image but low returns. Does fresh produce need a relaunch?' before the opening ceremony that evening, featuring keynote speaker Olivier Weidner of discount retailer Lidl.

During the trade fair itself, six hall forums will take place, starting with 'The retail trade in Europe – making the most of the crisis' and 'Mexico – a partner with great potential' on day one (3 February).

Day two will see forums on 'Agribusiness – partnerships in the produce food chain' and 'New marketing norms in Europe – how is the trade coping?', and day three sees a focus on 'Improving sourcing through product coding and standardisation' and 'Innovation in the fresh produce business – new trends in packaging'.

Additionally, outstanding achievements in all segments of the fresh produce trade will be honoured with the industry awards 'Grüner Merkur' on 2 February and the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award 2010 on 5 February.
