Pakistan's Planning Commission deputy chairman Sardar Aseff Ahmad Ali has called on the country to focus its energy on the agricultural sector as it looks to boost its economical strength.
During the country's steering committee's meeting on its National Trade Corridor Strategy Study, which was co-chaired by Mr Aseff this week, he said that the sector should be 'prioritised' as it represents 20 per cent of Pakistan's GDP.
The deputy chairman focused on the need to improve the infrastructure used by farmers throughout the country, and said that the use of high-tech greenhouses and radiation centres would help increase market value, The News reported.
Mangoes, citrus and vegetables are crops that are most likely to help Pakistan break into new markets, he said.
