New trade ties are set to be forged between Pakistan and Malaysia in a move that could see increased volumes of fresh produce move between the two countries, according to a report by dawn.com.

During a visit by Pakistani foreign minister Makdoom Shah Mahmud Qureshi to Malaysia this week, officials agreed to form a working group to forge lasting trade relations in areas including food, agriculture and livestock, with a final agreement expected to be signed in Pakistan in December.

Malaysia's minister for agriculture and agro-based industry Dato Haji Noh Bin Omar said that Malaysia was keen to import large volumes of mangoes and kinnow oranges, as well as rice, buffaloes and milk, from Pakistan.

In return, Pakistan is set to welcome Malaysian expertise in the fields of processing, packaging and marketing, which could be used to promote Pakistani products across the globe.
