Pakistan mango packing

Pakistan fruit and vegetable exporters have demanded compensation from the government after law enforcement agencies refused to clear consignments at the Chaman border, resulting in damage to their produce.

The All Pakistan Fruits and Vegetable Importers and Exporters Association estimated the damage at Rs100m (US$1.19M) based on information from its members.

Former association president Abdul Wahid told Dawn.com that 300 trucks bound for Afghanistan and Central Asia were stopped at the border for no valid reason.

The association has sent a letter to Pakistan’s commerce secretary asking to be compensated for the losses.
