Australia's peak vegetable industry body AUSVEG and Bayer CropScience have formed a partnership to develop marketing opportunities and share research and information on threats to vegetable crops.
AUSVEG represents the interests of more than 9000 vegetable and potato growers from the A$3.7bn Australian vegetable industry, while Bayer CropScience is a world leader in the areas of crop protection, pest control, seeds and plant biotechnology.
AUSVEG chief executive officer Richard Mulcahy said the combined resources of the two companies would provide great benefits to vegetable and potato growers, Stock and Land reported.
Bayer CropScience has started working with AUSVEG to share information to assist the sector in addressing major threats to crops.
They will also work with AUSVEG to identify marketing opportunities for vegetables, including sharing information on successful overseas models.
Scott Ward, Bayer CropScience's horticulture and summer crops portfolio manager, said he is looking forward to strengthening the partnership between the two companies.
'Our partnership with AUSVEG further enables us to deliver innovative solutions to the market, to ensure that growers can produce healthier crops, more efficiently and more sustainably,' he said.
