Maersk Line Felixstowe

A Maersk vessel docked at Felixstowe

Maersk Line's AE7 service between Asia and Europe called at the UK port of Felixstowe for the first time on 13 January as part of its revised rotation, the Journal of Commerce reported.

The first vessel to dock at Felixstowe as part of the route was the Gjertrude Maersk, which shares the service with some of the world's largest container ships, like the Emma Maersk and Estelle Maersk, which are regular fixtures at Felixstowe on other routes.

CEO of Hutchison Ports UK David Gledhill said the port of Felixstowe, which his company owns, is the only one in the UK that can accommodate the world's largest vessels.

As well as Felixstowe, the AE7 service calls at Bremerhaven, Rotterdam, Algeciras, Salalah, Yantian, Hong Kong, Xiamen, Ningbo, and Shanghai.
