Vietnam's Tien Giang Province will host the country's first national Fruit Festival in My Tho City from 19-24 April.
The event will display fruits from all over the country and discuss new ways to promote them domestically and internationally.
It is also an opportunity for Vietnam to promote itself as an exporter of high quality fresh produce, and a chance to honour farmers, scientists and businesses who have played significant roles in the horticulture sector.
During the festival there will be seminars on the domestic fruit market, including information on linking up farmers and businesses to increase the value of domestic fruit.
The cost of organising the event is estimated to be around 15bn dong (US$812,128), VietnamNet reported.
Tien Giang province is Vietnam's leading fruit producer with an annual yield of 950,000 tonnes.
