The Peru-US Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and pending deals with China and the European Union (EU) could create up to 40,000 new jobs in Peru over the next 10 years, reports Andina.

According to a study, released by the Peruvian Ministry of Labour and Promotion of Employment (MTPE) and conducted bythe Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the agreements between with China and the EU will stimulate employment opportunities in the agroindustrial sector.

The Peru-US deal, in comparison, will generate better possibilities in the textile and manufacturing industries in particular.

Government officials say the Peru-China FTA is expected to take effect on 1 March.

Separately, Andina reports that the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL), Peru's Export and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPerú) and Canada’s Trade Facilitation Office (TFO) are jointly organising a trade mission to Toronto and Montreal.

The trip is designed to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Peru-Canada FTA.
