Thailand's Agriculture Ministry is seeking Bt100m (US$3m) from theCabinet to promote Thai fruits during the Beijing Olympic Games,according to local officials.
The Chinese government has reportedly allowed Thailand to provideathletes and officials alike with complimentary Thai fruits during theevent, which should provide a platform to promote the country’sproduce.
The Ministry has requested the funds in order to buy seasonal fruitsfrom Thai growers for exhibition at key Chinese tourist destinations, amove it hopes will help to ease a looming glut on the local market.
