Pakistan mango packing

A new programme designed to boost the quality of Pakistan's mangoes will run in the province of Sindh until 29 June, The Pakistan Times reported.

A team of experts will be conducting training sessions at various venues around the province, while similar programmes will move to the mango growing areas of Multan, Muzaffargarh and Rahim Yar Khan in Punjab.

The training involves tips for growers on improving the quality of mangoes through better handling techniques at harvest and in the packhouse.

The Pakistan Horticulture Development and Export Company (PHDEC) is conducting sessions on mango handling for export markets.

Bashir Hussain, CEO of the PHDEC, said Pakistani mangos had the potential to become a huge export commodity for the country, if production and post harvest practices could be brought up to international standards.
