Grapes

Peruvian grape exports to Taiwan have performed well in recent years, and shipments look set to continue growing, according to the director of Peru's commercial office in Tapei, Gycs Gordon.

'Peru began to export table grapes to Taiwan five years ago and it is currently the star product. The red globe grape has improved a lot in quality and presentation, and adapted to the demands of this big market,' Mr Gordon told Peruvian news agency Andina.

This year's Peruvian grape season produced a bumper crop between November and March, with yields around double that of the previous season.

'Shipments to Taiwan already doubled in the first half of the year. The demand has increased because is a year of growth for the country, incomes are increasing, people are consuming more, and the food sector is the most booming,' Mr Gordon said.
