Fresh produce labelling specialist Sinclair International has developed a new, hand-operated labelling system which, it says, is ideal for applying labels to small consignments.
With the aim of meeting demand for an easy-to-use, ergonomic hand labeller, Sinclair has unveiled the Hand Labelling System (HLS), which can be used to label fresh produce packed either in trays or loose, including tomatoes, apples, citrus and exotics such as bananas and mangoes.
The new Sinclair HLS will be commercially available from 22 November 2010 and will be demonstrated at Sinclair's stand during Fresh Summit, which takes place in Orlando, Florida on 15-18 October.
'The overwhelming response and interest at our demonstration of the Sinclair HLS at the Asia Fruit Logistica show in Hong Kong last month validated the market's need for an efficient, food-grade labelling system which is simple and affordable,' stated Rick Goddard, Sinclair's senior vice-president of sales and marketing.
'The Sinclair HLS provides our customers with the flexibility to efficiently label the full range of package configurations and can be adapted to integrate with just about any work station in our customers' operations,' Mr Goddard added.
According to the company, HLS can apply a wide variety of Sinclair label sizes, including those with the company's unique and trademarked Tab-Lift feature.
The system holds standard size label rolls, offering reduced down-time due to reloading that is a common challenge with conventional hand-labeller guns.
The ergonomic applicator is also said to be easy on the hand and durable even in the most rugged packing environments.
