Combined losses to the agriculture sectors of Eastern Taiwan's Hualien County, Taitung County and Yilan County totalled NT$11.3m, the paper said. Torrential rains caused by the tropical storm flooded 76ha of farmland in these counties last Thursday, damaging 47 per cent of the crops worth an estimated NT$3.96, it added.
Local vegetable supplies to Taipei's wholesale market had reportedly fallen by 18.7 per cent by Friday, and average prices were up by 24.9 per cent over the previous day.
