Agrexco citrus 2010

Israel-based Agrexco has started this year's export campaign for its Carmel-branded citrus range, with the country's overall citrus export volumes expected to drop this year when compared with 2009.

Despite this, Agrexco's share of Israel's citrus export market is set to increase, with a greater focus on the premium category.

'Agrexco promises a wide selection of citrus varieties,' said Golda Ezuz, manager of Agrexco's citrus division, 'including grapefruit, lemons, pomelos, easy-peelers and orange varieties, that are bound to satisfy different customers' preferences.'

The first wave of green Sweetie variety shipments has ended, Ms Ezuz noted, with shipments of the green/yellow Sweetie set to begin, targeting Eastern Europe and the Far East in particular.

Grapefruit exports will run through until May next year, she added, with Navel exports starting in November along with easy peeler varieties such as Mineola and Santina, followed by lemons in January 2011.

Shamutti and Agrexco's prized easy-peeler, Or, will round off the citrus campaign at the end of January, with the greater volumes of Or shipped this year to meet growing demand.
