November has marked the launch on the worldwide promotional campaign for Asia Fruit Logistica 2011, Asia's leading trade show for the fresh fruit and vegetable business, which takes place on 7-9 September 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The promotional activities that span more than 100 countries across the globe are a key contributor to the international profile the event has achieved up to now.

Asia Fruit Logistica 2010 was a resounding success, proving an effective platform for generating business for those interested in the lucrative Asian market. Some 4,100 buyers and trade visitors from 60 countries were at the exhibition ready to do business, up 20 per cent on the previous year.

'This is a new record,' said Gérald Lamusse, managing director of Global Produce Events GmbH. 'It clearly demonstrates how Asia Fruit Logistica is now accepted by the fresh produce business around the world as the must-attend event in Asia.'

Buyers, who account for more than 90 per cent of all trade visitors, attend from leading supermarket chains in vital emerging consumer markets such as China, India and Russia, as well as from key markets such as Europe and the US, while three-quarters of all trade visitors to Asia Fruit Logistica hold key management positions within their companies, a good indicator of visitor quality. ??

'Our exhibitors on the South African pavilion are all very happy,' said Asia Fruit Logistica 2010 exhibitor Amanda Burger, assistant director for National Pavilions, the DTI (South Africa). 'Asia is a growing market for us and there is definitely a lot more room for further growth. Around 50 per cent of our visitors represented new business.'
