APM terminals will open a new port facility in Vietnam with the ability to handle container vessels of 11,000 TEU.

According to a report in Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten the APM Terminals port joint venture, the Cai Mep International Terminal (CMIT) will help Vietnam cope with strong growth in the number of containers moving in and out of the country.

“Asia is a growth market, and Vietnam has realised that more ports are needed. The government has wanted an expansion in order to strengthen the country’s competitiveness. It is important to its development that goods may easily and quickly get in and out,” said CMIT general director Michael Them Rasmussen.
