The Wonderplant greenhouse in Petrousa, Greece, is close to completion, as a 5 May target date for the planting of tomatoes looms, according to Fresh Plaza.
The 11ha site on the Greek mainland will include 6ha of tomatoes on the vine: 3ha of Levanzo from Rijk Zwaan and 3ha of Brilliant from Monsanto.
The remaining 5ha will be given over to a Greek breakfast tomato, El Tida from Enza Zaden.
Vivartia, the Greek food manufacturer and distributor, is overseeing the project, which is being built by a Dutch firm, Van der Hoeven.
