Mtex Avocado Granot venture

Mehadrin Tnuport Export (Mtex) and Avocado Granot have announced details of a new joint venture that will bring two of the country's leading avocado growers together.

The venture will see fruit drawn from plantations spread across the country, producing a combined 26,000 tonnes of avocados that are to be packed in two advanced packing facilities and marketed by Mtex's expert teams.

'Together, we will become Israel's largest exporter of avocados, with an approximate 50 per cent holding of Israeli avocado exports,' the groups said in a joint statement.

'This cooperation will not only maintain our excellent reputation but will surpass it, providing the best quality fruits our land can offer and marketing them by request to anywhere around the globe.'

Avocado Granot is a cooperative within the Granot Group, packaging over 30 per cent of the entire Israeli avocado market and 60 per cent of the country's organic avocado market, with production expected to reach 40,000 tonnes annually when orchards reach their growing capacity.

Mtex is Israel's largest grower and exporter of citrus, also producing avocados and other fresh fruits and vegetables.
