Brazilian agriculture growers who adhere to sustainability programmes developed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply are reportedly set to receive rewards to the tune of US$640.8m in recognition of their efforts.

Brazil is keen to develop sustainable solutions for the country’s expanding agriculture industry and encourage greater social and environmental responsibility among suppliers.

The Ministry has already invested US$3.8m this year in programmes to encourage integrated production for 18 different fruits, organic farming and the integration of crop husbandry and fruit farming integration.

So far, some 5,000 growers have benefited from training in soil handling, disease and pest control, pesticide residue analysis, harvesting techniques, transport methods, among other skills.
