According to data from TNS Worldpanel, volumes of easy-peelers bought by households in France are rapidly on the rise.

Between October and December 2007, volumes were up by 8 per cent compared with the same period in 2006, and by 13 per cent compared with the five-year average.

Such growth has been attributed to a 7 per cent increase in the number of buyers compared with 2006-2007. The latter has itself been aided by the high quality of easy-peelers on offer, particularly with regard to shelf-life and sugar content.

The concurrent lack of availability of Spanish and Moroccan easy-peelers has helped French producers, engendering a boost in prices, which have increased by 44 per cent compared with 2006’s levels.
