In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), plans are currently underway for domestically grown organic products to be sold at a weekly market, according to the ministry of environment and water.

The ministry is equally seeking a suitable way of marketing products from organic farms in the private sector, according to Gulf News.

A total of 28 fruit and vegetable farms in the UAE have been certified by the ministry as organic, meaning that no chemical fertilisers or pesticides are utilised.

Supervision and inspection of the farms is conducted by the ministry, according to Mariam Al Shenasi, executive director for technical affairs in the ministry of environment and water.

'There is a large interest from residents on organic products, and equally farmers are keen to follow the regulations and standards of organic farming in their farms, to register and see their products for sale,' she said.

In the future, all organic products grown domestically will have to carry an organic sticker.
