Peter Fry, who retired from UK retailer Tesco a fortnight ago after 22 years with the company, has joined UK topfruit marketing group Norman Collett Ltd in a consultancy role.

Highly regarded in the fresh produce industry, Peter Fry was Tesco's produce trading director between 1995-2003, and subsequently spent 18 months in Japan working on business development. For the past two years he has been produce quality director.

Peter met members of Mid Kent Growers, which market their fruit through Norman Collett, during last week's annual orchard walk in Kent, south-east UK.

Andy Sadler, managing director of Norman Collett Ltd said: 'We are delighted to welcome Peter Fry on board. With his vast experience he will add an extra dimension helping us to develop our relationship with current and future customers.'
