cherries

The Chilean Fruit Exporters Association (Asoex) launched a new promotional campaign for Chilean cherries in mid-December in conjunction with the Madrid office of the Chilean export promotion board (ProChile) and Spanish importer Frutas E Sánchez.

The drive saw Chilean cherries promoted in El Corte Inglés stores in a bid to support the distribution and marketing of Chilean fruit on the Spanish market during the off-season, according to a report by SimFRUIT.

Tasting activities took place on 15-18 December in 30 supermarkets in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Murcia, Sevilla, Málaga, Cádiz, La Coruña and Valladolid.

The first fruit of the season arrived in Spain by air in October and supply is set to continue by boat until March.
